Preparing for the Church Fete

Welcombe Church Fete  -  Scarecrows & Manikins

It seems early to be writing about the forthcoming Church Fete on Thursday 17th August 2017 but planning has started and we would like to have a display of scarecrows and manikins in the church and around the churchyard.   So now is the time to start thinking about making an exhibit – maybe a character from a book or a nursery rhyme, a celebrity or a politician or a nun peering out from behind a gravestone!   They can be as scary, humorous and outrageous as you like.   They will be judged in various categories  and you can make one on your own or together with family or friends.

There will be the usual variety of stalls and side shows and we would welcome donations of books, toys, games, cakes, buns, bottles, china, jewellery, bathroom sundries and raffle prizes.   These can be left in the boxes at the back of the church.

We would also welcome more helpers to enable us to run a bigger variety of side stalls.   There will be the usual tasty teas plus music both in the church and marquee and some outdoor entertainment including the Welcombe & Meddon Spinners.

Please put THURSDAY 17th AUGUST in your diaries for a fun and entertaining afternoon while raising much needed funds to keep St. Nectan’s Church open.   If you are able to assist in any way we would be glad to hear from you.
